"I'm trying to consider what the biggest lie apologists tell and I think it's this:
"Truth matters."
Nope, friends, if truth mattered, you wouldn't be a Christian."
- Michael Beverly
-----------------------------------------------
That's at the top of the list, for sure.
But I'd also list things like:
"We don't think we're better than you".
"We don't think our lives are more valuable than yours".
"We love non-Christians".
"This isn't a cult".
"We're not a Hive-Minded collective which is subjugated to the will of any religious figures."
"We don't place any man (neither past nor present) on a God-tier by saying that their words ARE the words of our God".
"This isn't a system of thought-control."
"This isn't a religion".
"I didn't say whichever thing I just said (even though I'm about to say that thing again)".
"You (the skeptic) definitely just said a terrible thing (you didn't actually say, nor think, nor imply).".
"Christians don't gaslight.
Or, at least, such a thing is never sanctioned by Bibles nor Christianity.
Nor is gaslighting ever necessary in defense of our sanctioned beliefs, preachments, or actions.".
"My religion (or "faith") is falsifiable. It simply withstands all attempts to falsify it".
"Christianity neither embraces nor pushes false-facts as facts".
"As we review the facts of history, Christianity never requires that we treat any impossible, far-fetched, or improbable claims (about history) as probable or certain".
"Neither Bibles nor Christianity ever mispresent scientific facts."
"Neither Bibles nor Christianity ever mispresent the lived experience of outsiders.".
"Christianity does not, in any way, attempt to unscrupulously backdoor-hack vulnerable minds via refined methods for manipulating cognitions as a way to bypass true consent in our recruitment; nor in our efforts to keep people from leaving".
"All prospective members and new members are fully versed about everything of potential consequence ... about what's in our Bibles, and everything of potential consequence about our religion (or: our totally-not-a-religion), because we understand that uninformed, under-informed, and falsely-informed consent IS NOT "consent".
"Christianity values Free Will so much (just like our GOD does) that we'd never:
a.) attempt to circumvent a vulnerable mind's autonomous right to self-determination via indoctrination, psychological manipulation, nor coercion.
nor
b.) weaponize a society's government to force non-Christian citizens to comply with our theology-based positions about morality".
"Christian apologetics are a profound exercise in moral objectivity, humility, ethics, and rational reasoning".
"Christianity is fully conducive to psychological, social, and societal health".
"Neither Bibles nor Christianity ever push claims which generate significant and prolonged anxiety. Because we understand that any such anxiety would cause and worsen mental illness".
"There is no serious conflict of interests inherent to how greatly we (individually and collectively) profit (money, power, and ego) by recruiting new members into our totally-not-a-cult",
"There is no serious conflict-of-interest inherent to our religion's mission to amass members, when considering that the mere act of amassing members automatically generates the amassing of power;
in view of the fact that **power corrupts**".
Thus, we are not told by our Bibles nor our church leaders to DO a thing that will automatically corrupt Christianity the more it succeeds."
"We really don't significantly resemble the parallels made in the "Kissing Hank's @xx" video".
"Our God's character, as described in bibles, is the antithesis of clinical Narcissism, sociopathy, and psychopathy".
"The Great Commission does not perfectly fit the definition of a racketeering scheme".
In an attempt to argue for the existence of our specific "God", we'd never conflate that concept of "God" with a vaguely deistic notion of God; especially not as a way to smuggle our specific God past a listener's critical filters".
"Christianity is one specific and unwavering structure of concepts and values in our world.
With that in mind, I (speaker) am qualified and authorized to speak on its behalf".
"Neither anything in a Bible, nor anything taught by Christianity promotes sexist subjugation of women.
With that in mind,
we would never hide such sexism behind the premise that women were created with certain lesser-abilities (compared to men) because they were created to occupy a space beneath men in an ideological, social, and spiritual hierarchies."
"Neither Bibles nor Christianity promote authoritarianism".
"Neither Bibles nor Christianity speak of children as if they are property; nor do we ever treat them as such."
"We don't demonize natural human sexuality as a way to shame ego-vulnerable minds into subservience to our religious collective".
"Christianity is not a major driving force of mental-illness, nor (more specifically) an epidemic of self-un-alive-ing;
not even among LGBT+ youth".
"Our churches do NOT provide an ideological, social, or societal platform for covert predators to fast-track in an easy ascent of social power, undue trust, and thus ... access to vulnerable sheeple (and their children)"
"We don't demonize people in rival religions and rival sects".
"We don't demonize critics".
"We don't demonize atheists".
"We don't demonize humanity as a whole, by using phrases like "The World" as a derogatory dismissal of non-Christians which provokes profound distrust, disgust, and division (US vs THEM) between members and outsiders".
"We might hate and denigrate "The World" but we totally don't hate or denigrate anyone in it".
"We don't install the idea of a literal "Devil" into member-sheep minds as an emotional-reflex-mechanism which generates profound dread and distrust ... as a way to keep them from seriously considering ANY facts, reason, and ethics which might pose a threat to our religion's control over them."
"We don't promote hate while trying to disguise it as a undeserved kindness".
"Christianity fully embraces and promotes personal accountability. This is perfectly compatible with the "offer" to immediately transfer every new member's moral failings and debts (and thus, responsibilities for those debts) onto an innocent scapegoat."
"There's nothing psychologically violent about our beliefs and preachments.
In fact, telling everyone they're a worthless piece of trash that can be RECYLED and REPORPOSED into something ETERNALLY VALUABLE as something our Cosmic Super-Parent can USE to glorify himself with ... is a really tremendous kindness; if you really sortof almost think about it".
"It's a matter of profound humility to assume and insist that humans (and even more so: Christians) are the reason our world (and universe) even exists".
"It's profoundly humble to presume we're qualified to represent (speak, act, and exist) on behalf of a perfect "God" so that when you hear (speaker) speak, you're hearing from your GOD!"
"The All-knowing, All-Powerful Creator Of The Universe ... needs your help crossing the road into other people's lives.
And for that, he also needs your money. But he doesn't have his own bank account. So we'll hold it for him. And we'll also help him spend it; mostly on ourselves.
In fact, that's was his plan all along; to bless us with your money."
