HAS CHRISTIANITY MADE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?

Today, someone at Mythvision FB forums asked this:

HAS CHRISTIANITY MADE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?
 
Because I've already spent so many prior hours on this question,
I already have a comprehensive answer. 

I will limit myself to a "Top 10" list. But choosing which answers to include and exclude from this list wasn't easy. 
So much more needs to be said. 

However, before we proceed, I recognize that "Christianity" isn't one specific set of attitudes and ideals.
It's a category or theme.
As such, #NotAllChristians are equally guilty of the charges I issue here. 

However, the versions of Christianity which are the most guilty of the problems I will list here ... have been the dominant versions for thousands of years.
As such, there is no need to keep saying "except not as severely when it comes to progressives". 

Progressive Christianity is, for the most part, a modern invention.
It's the result of exposing pro-social personalities within the Christian bubble to the ideals of the secular enlightenment. 

To gradually increasing degrees, among gradually increasing numbers, secular-minded Christians are helping to make this world a better place. 
But this can never undo the harms done (ever since the mid/late 1st century) 
nor the costs still being paid today 
by literally everyone ... due to the larger whole of "Christianity".

1. It's a religious category based on being sycophantic flying monkeys for a malignant grandiose Narcissist parent/husband/owner.

Even modern progressives are obligated to this.

Children are being taught that an abusive "Father" really does love them.

Worse yet, they are being taught that it's the ultimate form of "love" that everyone should find no fault with, not even question, and strive to emulate in how they live in this world.

2. Most Christians, for nearly two thousand years (and counting), have promoted male-supremacy and entitlement (sexism) as a "family value".

They've been regarding women as weaker vessels, sex-servants and baby-vending-machines put on this Earth to serve human men and the Uber-Man "God". 

Worse yet, the longer that religious-culture exists, the more damage it does.

Seating these ideas into modern consumer-economies has been absolutely destructive to the global environment.

They have held the reigns;
maintaining a chokehold on powerful cultures across the globe.

That, in turn, has been driving us ever downward into chaos and disease.

Time and time again, the disease of Christian religiosity has spread and decimated large parts of the human body.  

Even over just the past few centuries,
we've seen that cancer metastasize into many forms;
including "Manifest Destiney",
the Holocaust, 
and their currently ongoing attempts to turn America into a fascist theocracy.

In fact, very recently, Mike Jones (of "Inspiring Philosophy") has released a video short on YouTube where he actually praised the Holocaust as a net-sum-positive for humanity, because his "God" used it to humble people and thus bring them into Christianity.

Every time and every way that they could, traditional Christians have reduced the broad-scale nature of "man" down to a simple equation:
entitled takers 
vs
everyone else. 



It's important to note: 
Actually-peaceful human have not bore the weight of this alone. 

3. They have warped common views about relationship paradigms and social values.

4. This, then, causes a strong and sustained 'ripple effect' of undermining the psychological health, social health, and (further down the chain of effects) physical health of countless conscripted victims of these inherently dysfunctional paradigms. 

5. With these, they have set up their own children (and each other's children) to get married far too young,
and to pair off unequally.

Along the way, some realize this.
Some don't ever realize this.
Those that start to realize it remain under intense social pressure to remain with their abusers.

To a lesser extreme, those lucky enough to have developed into decent and functional adults ... still remain under pressure to get married too young to someone they barely know.
But these are also kept under pressure to remain with a mate they prove to be personally incompatible with, in a life that makes them quietly miserable (year, after year, after year).

6. Each next generation is anti-educated about the value of THIS LIFE.

They are taught to keep living for later.

They even taught to feel rather ashamed and burdened by their physical bodies and their physical desires. 

They are taught to think of this life as an unfortunately-necessary "test" that they should be eager to put behind them. 

As a result, most get much LESS out of this life than they could have.

 I most certainly count these as unsung tragedies; even when the victims don't recognize the value of what they've been programmed to lose.

7. Most churches have weaponized each next generation against their own interests and against all other humans. 

Some examples?

Consider:

Every child has an innate right to education.
And yet, most Christian churches have aggressively sabotaged their children's education. 
They've also tried hard (and succeeded often) to sabotage non-Christians education.
 
 Blocking education, demonizing education, and anti-education (installing false-facts and fallacious reasoning into vulnerable minds) 
are insidious forms of abuse.

 The consequences of these forms of sabotage reach deeply and destructively into every facet of every society where such religions are prevalent. 

The result?
Profoundly perpetuated injustice and suffering. 

Adding insult to injury, it's all done in the name of "justice" and "mercy"; 
as these "armies of God" gaslight in his name. 

8. They come to bring a sword of division.



Today, our world continues to be torn apart by division.

As the centuries march forward, such divisions prove ever more consequential for humanity and for our ecosystem. 

For example,
Climate Change Denial is rooted in:
* scientific illiteracy,
* the need to validate religious concepts as true, 
* and a perpetual drive to divide and conquer in their grossly destructive culture war.

Sowing distrust of science has helped them demonize essential sectors of science as "the world" and as "the liberal agenda".

Such polemics help them recruit and unite politically weaponized "Christian soldiers"
to "fight the good fight" in war being generated from their own dark imaginings. 

They aren't bothered by the FACT that their conspiracy theories about climate change directly result in more polluted air, land, and water.



They don't mind that such pollution causes rampant disease, famines, displacement, and death across our globe.
In fact, they are counting on it.
Because their power-hungering, fear-mongering mob thrives off of suffering and death. 

You can't sell snake oil to healthy people, nor to the adequately informed and logically skeptical. 

It's all designed to help them towards their goals of global domination as righteous, 4th-Reich fascists for "God". 

 

9. Meanwhile, humanity is still subject to a relentless assault on basic human rights and dignity.

This forces the well-informed, the compassionate, and the sane to fight back.

 Granted, traditional Christians are finally losing their war against humanity. But the costs of that war continue to be extremely high.

10.  
The offer of "grace" literally refers to the idea of "undeserved kindness".
 It posits that you aren't even worthy of the air you breathe. 
 It argues that you should be measured against the impossible and nebulous standard of "perfection".

And why?
 So that you come up SHORT.

If that manipulative abuse actually works as intended,
 you'll then feel a need to be "forgiven" for the crime of merely existing as an  imperfect creature.

Exactly like "beauty magazines", they want to SELL YOU SOMETHING that you don't even need;
and that you're actually better off without. 

In order to do that,
they try worsen and prey upon your insecurities, to make you feel like YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH.

They seek to make you feel powerless, ugly and stained;  unworthy of the love and respect that everyone desires. 



"We accept the love that we think we deserve".
They understand and exploit this unfortunate vulnerability of human psychology. 
So they try to make you feel like you DESERVE less, so that you'll ACCEPT less, and then THANK THEM for the privilege.
