Christopher Hitchens - Christianity is Immoral (1 of 2)

Some of the reasons I reject the entire premise:

[Notice: I don't use the phrase "the Bible", since no such book exists]

First,
bibles are wrong about science and history.

Cosmology,
age of the Earth,
order events while the Earth was forming,
order of events for life appearing on Earth,
human general history,
human religious history,
their own religion's histories,
psychology, sociology,
human health,
human relationships, etc.

Bibles also promote Clinical Narcissism, sociopathy, and psychopathy.
As a result, bibles promote very harmful ideas as "morality".

Every once in a while, Bible writers get something correct about the names of actually-existing people, places, and events.
And they get those bits right simply because they were there.

It's like someone writing about Spiderman being in New York.

New York exists. But that doesn't mean Spiderman exists.

Also, Christians don't really understand what's in their Bibles.

Examples:

There really isn't any monotheism in either Hebrew or Christian texts.

Granted, they were always marching towards Monotheism; whether they realized it or not.
And they did eventually become monotheists.

[The actual purpose of monotheism:
to consolidate power, in order to gain the full support of society to wage conquests over other societies.
Although, they were able to accomplish this merely by prioritizing one god over others. But this form of manipulation became more effective, the closer they got to actual monotheism]

When their respective texts were being written,
the Hebrews were polytheists.

The Hebrews worshipped many gods when the Torah was new.
That's because they started off as a tribe that broke away from the Canaanites.
The Canaanites were all polytheists.

Gradually, that nomadic tribe changed.

They started favoring one deity over the others.

Eventually, they switched to only worshipping one deity. But they still believed that the other deities exist.

Early Christians also believed other deities exist. They just felt it was right for them to have only one deity that they worship.

To the early Christians, other gods were only "false" in the sense of being impotent, less grand, and "will lead you astray".

Yahweh/Jehovah/Adonai/etc. were some of the names they adopted for their favorite deity.
But that deity is a composite deity made from descriptions/parts of other/older religious lore.
He's like a "Frankenstein's Monster" Deity made from parts of dead gods.

Today, the oldest religion still currently practiced is Hinduism.

The Hebrews copied and adapted all the parts of their religious stories from other/older religions.
It was always a false religion, built entirely upon fictional histories.

For example:
Moses (as written) never existed.
Neither did Noah, Abraham, Adam, or Eve.

Therefore, any religion attempting to build onto it ... is automatically a false religion.

Christianity, as a religious category, includes countless thousands of versions (sects; factions) and even more independent versions.

Most of the organized versions deny the legitimacy of all other versions.

Christianity, as a larger structure, is a house divided.
It's always internally warring against itself.

The chaos of Christianity is caused partly because their religious texts are so cryptic, ambiguous, and inconsistent.
The way those texts were written leaves everything open to interpretation.
So billions of very humble "truth seekers" can't agree about what any of it means.

If their armies have a General or a King, ... then their leader is incompetent.
They can't impart guidance or issue orders in a way that is clearly understood by everyone who desperately TRIES to understand him.

If people are "designed", then:
people are so badly "designed"
that human psychology causes wrong-certainty for believers who really "believe" they do understand.

The whole thing is an absolutely bloody mess.
